In Conversation with Fiona Farrell - 20th Aug 2017

Esteemed New Zealand author Fiona Farrell lived near Akaroa on the breautiful Banks Peninsula for many years.  She was deeply affected by the devastation Christchurch earthquakes in 2010/11.  Her first response was to write a non-fiction book, The Villa at the Edge of the Empire.  With the passage of time she has used the material she gathered then to return to her passion - fiction writing.  Her newly published Decline and Fall on Savage Street (a companion volume to The Villa at the Edge of the Empire) is the result.

The Athenaeum is delighted Fiona has agreed to be our guest for an afternoon In Coversation with local writer (and chair of the Athenaeum committee) Annie Villiers, to talk writing - and in particular, her new book.  Fiona will also read an excerpt from the book and there will be an opportunity for audience questions.

The event is free to Athenaeum members.  Friends and family are welcome to attend for a $5 entry fee.  This special event will be held in the Athenaeum library space, 23 the Octagon, at 3pm on Sunday the 20th of August.  No refreshments will be provided by you are welcome to bring take away drinks.
